The nasty 'breaks SLX' patch (KB928388) is now on the Windows Update site. We just had our first remote sales guy get bit.

It's not currently being pushed out via automatic updates and the "Express" install from the Windows Update site is safe also, but a custom install choosing optional components will have it listed.

So the user has to be one who is knowledgeable enough to go out and grab the patch from the Windows Update site but that's still a lot easier to get than when it was just a download you had to search for specifically from www.microsoft.com

My company has sent out a notice to all SalesLogix users to not install any Windows Updates for now. Hopefully the patch from Sage is almost ready.

(EDIT) Apparently there is a registry entry fix that will restore functionality. I'm still trying to get to the support site though. It's not loading this morning.

(UPDATE) The registry patch does fix functionality but it's not a true fix but rather a work around. It shouldn't effect most SLX users unless you reside within one of the listed time zones:
• Azerbaijan Standard Time
• Central Brazilian Standard Time
• Central Standard Time (Mexico)
• Georgian Standard Time
• Jordan Standard Time
• Middle East Standard Time
• Montevideo Standard Time
• Mountain Standard Time (Mexico)
• Namibia Standard Time
• Pacific Standard Time (Mexico)
• E. South America Standard Time

See SalesLogix support for more info. They included a good PDF with the registry fixes.

Looks like we are safe again for the moment.

There is a Service Pack in the works for both 6.2 (SP6) and 7.0 (SP1) to provide a true fix.. it should be available sometime before teh end of January '07.

KB92910 also breaks SalesLogix, but I believe it applies only to the Web side. The registry patch doesn't address the changes in KB92910, so it's generally a good idea not to apply EITHER patch until an official fix goes public.

This one did sneak by.. but SalesLogix Tech Support has a patch (for the registry) in case one has applied it.

Jeremy,

You mention KB92910 - is there a number missing? Can't find anything on that via google or the support.microsoft.com.

Thanks,

Jeff

KB929120 is the correct "number".
