SalesLogix 6.2 Integration with Crystal Reports Enterprise ServerYour last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

I am currently performing analysis on what is required to integrate CR Ent Server with SalesLogix 6.2 from both an infrastructure perspective as well as from practical standpoint so we can take advantage of the security. Reading the threads in this forum leads me to believe it is possible; however, I would like to solicit any feedback in doing this. Some questions that I need answered are: Does CR ES require servers to run on or does it run within SLX (like the OEM version)? If it does require extra servers, how do the reports in CR ES get accessed through SLX (do you access within or do users need to hit the external CR ES "portal")? Any information that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

We use SLX 6.2.6 Web Client, and SLX 6.2.6 Web Reporting. SLX 6.2.6 Web Reporting uses Crystal Enterprise 8, which must run on a Windows 2000 server. All of our customers access SLX through web clients, not LAN clients.

Reports run through the web client use the dedicated web reporting server, and return the reports through a Crystal Reports viewer installed on the customer's computer. The reports can be printed, exported to Excel, etc.

Does that help?

Packers eh? Regarding SLX, I think that is where we are different. We access SLX through citrix and would like to integrate other datasources via CR ES. So what you are saying is that CR ES does require its own server to run on? Do you happen to have a high-level diagram on how you have implemented the integration?

SLX Web has a Web Manager that installs on the web server, and it has the database connection information and the web reporting server connection information. SLX Crystal Enterprise is recommended to be on its own server. We probably do not stress it with our reporting needs, but your company (Wells) may.

Are you in DSM enjoying today's snow?
