I can't use the "edit in Crystal" button in Architect because for some reason the CRW install is a bit screwy and it says nothing is installed.

To get around this, I just use the "check out" button, then open the .rpt in CRW manually.

The odd thing is, I always end up with two. Architect puts one in each of the following places:
MyDocs\SalesLogix\Reports\Reports\Architect
MyDocs\SalesLogix\Reports\Reports\Architect\Checkout

The second is lightly larger and written after the first. Which is the "real" one that gets checked back in, and is this normal?

I'm not exactly sure, but I would guess the Checkout folder. What I would do to be absolutely sure is run FileMon (See http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/FileAndDisk/Filemon.mspx) to see exactly where SLX writes the file.

Save changes to the report in
MyDocs\SalesLogix\Reports\Reports\Architect\Checkout
That is the one that is checked into the database.

Thanks, trial-and-error seems to indicate that it doesn't always create the first file, perhaps it's written temporarily then moved to Checkout. I've had a few quirky things going on with respect to SLX and CRW recently, I think I may have some duff config on my laptop. Time for a wipe-and-rebuild, I think.

Do you have both CRW and SLX client in one machine?

What got installed first? slx or crw?

Anyways these are all NOT real issues when dealing with cr..)

I believe if there is an error in the report, both files are not created
