Failed To Retrieve Data From The Database

I am gong nuts on this issue. I have some reports which show an error message, "Failed to rertrieve data from the database. Details: [Database Vendor Code: 298736883 ]". This error appears when the Crystal report is run on the client, signed in as any user save Admin. When the report is run in crystal, or in architect (both signed in as admin), it also works without issue. It is only when the report is run under another user name, that this error appears. I have created a few reports, and it seems that only some of them give this error, others are ok. I am running SLX 7.5, using Crystal 2008 to edit my reports (I don't use anything 2008 specific in my reports). My SLX is running on top of a SQL server. I have reviewed reports that work and ones that don't, and compared them, but found no significat differences. If you can think of anything for me to try, I would be quite pleased to hear any feedback, even if the suggestion seems obvious, it may not have been obvious to me. Thank you.
Addendum: I logged in to crystal under a user account (not admin), and ran the report. It retrieved data just fine. I am still stumped as to why when I sign into the client under the same user name, I get the db error. |

Hi Kevin,
Could you find the solution to your issue. I am also getting the same error for one of my reports when it is run on the SLX client. And the report runs fine by itself in crystal reports. Please let me know if you found the answer.
Regards Sundari

I too had the same problem. Report works fine in Client when logged in as admin but not as users. I have done the following steps it works fine now. Lauch the reports from architect (Check out). Update the 'Set Datasource' of the report from the Database menu in Crystal Reports using the admin userid and password. Run the report once, save it. Check in the report in Architect and release it to the users. Login as a user in client and test if it works fine.
