Hello fellow support.

I have a problem where 1 "custom" report will not open from within Saleslogix on a Windows 2003 Standard Server platform with Service Pack 2 (VM). However, the report in Saleslogix will work on a Windows XP Pro platform.

(1) the orginal version of Saleslogix was 7.0 .

(2) On the VM with Windows 2003 server with Service Pack 2, I upgraded the Saleslogix systems and the database to 7.2.2 and I installed Service Pack 1 and 2 for Crystal Reports. The report still will not open in Saleslogix but opens correctly in the Crystal Report program.

(3) the version of the database system I am using is M.S. SQL 2005 Express

any Ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated .

Thank you in advance.

'Fellow support'? Maybe you mean 'Support fellow'? Smile

Well, even though I'm not usually one of those, I have a couple of questions that might help illuminate things a little:

1) When you say 'will not open' - is there an error message?

2) Do you have another W2003 machine on which to test? You need to determine whether it's a problem with W2003 or a problem specific to that machine.

Hi Phil,

Thank you for your response. I do get a error message specfic to Crystal Report = "prompt.dll": the connection to the database cannot be established. I have carried the required fixes from Crystal Reports which is copying the prompt.dll from a working machine to this one and also installing the service packs for Crystal Reports.

I am in the process of trying to find another Windows 2003 server system that I can test with

Here's a stab in the dark.

It sounds more like a permissions issue than anything.  Is the error message appearing as soon as you try to open the report or does it get so far and then stop?  Have you tried editing the report on the W2003 box with Crystal Reports to see if the same thing happens.  Maybe the username or password was typed wrong or something in the database connection of the report?

Hi John,

Thanks for your response. (1) When you say it could be a permission issue, where exactly would I be looking? (2) The error message takes a long time to appear. (3) I have tried editing the report and same thing happens. (4) I am not sure where I would mis-type the username or password.

Thanks

Hi John and Phil,

I have got another Windows 2003 server enviroment. I installed Saleslogix version 7.01 and installed Crystal Reports X1 and this time I installed SQL Server 2005.

I tested the report in Saleslogix and again it would not open. I "Checked Out" the report and tested it in Crystal Reports and it worked fine.

I have also tried editing the report and tested again in Saleslogix but it still won;t open. This time there is no error message. Saleslogix just stops responding

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated
