CR XI Date Time Parameter List Issue
Posted: 12 Jan 07 1:47 PM

fiogf49gjkf0d I've been playing around with this for a little here. I am upgrading some reports from CR 8.5 to CR XI and many of these reports have start and end date time parameters. For each of these parameters I created a selection list of date times to choose from.. For example the date start list is something list this
10/01/2006 12:00:00 AM 11/01/2006 12:00:00 AM 12/01/2006 12:00:00 AM etc...
and the end date is similar... 10/01/2006 11:59:59 PM 11/01/2006 11:59:59 PM 12/01/2006 11:59:59 PM etc...
The problem in CR XI is this. When I went to set the defaults for these parameters (as the documentation for 7.0 states has to be done) I found that my enddate parameter did not have anything in the selection list. So I exported the list from the 8.5 version to a text file then imported that list into the XI version. Seemed easy enough.. but it didn't work for enddate. [scratching head] I looked at the file and all looked fine. Not if I imported a text file of just dates it work. But it defaulted the time to 12:00:00 AM. Ok, now to change the time. I try changing 12:00:00 AM to 11:59:59 PM and it does not work. Just goes back to being 12:00:00 AM. [scratching head]
So I tried adding a brand new selection to the list. Crystal would not take 11:59:59 PM. So I tried 11:59:59 AM and it worked. Tried changing it to PM. Didn't work - went back to AM [scratching head] Ok... Lets try this... I changed it to 11:59:58 and guess what... it worked!!! So why won't it take 11:59:59 PM as a time? Still haven't figured this out.
To help prove if this was a Crystal or SLX OLE DB provider issue I created a basic report on the OPPORTUNITY table and used the SQL Native, OLE DB Provider for SQL Server and the SalesLogix OLE DB provider. It didn't seem to matter which provider I used the result was the same. Crystal will not take a date time that has the time as 11:59:59 PM! Seems very odd that this would be.
Has anyone run into this or seen a KB for it on Crystal?
