Crystal and Integrating SalesLogix v7 and MAS 4.1

fiogf49gjkf0d I am having trouble getting Crystal to play nice as SLX v7 uses Crystal XI and MAS 4.10 uses 10. I know how to register the .dll files but this is impossible with users who are in and out of each app several times a day. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Hey Cullen, I have been really busy with some other projects but I appreciate your questions. So, here is how it goes... When the MAS people try to do monthy updates and run reports, they get a message that the wrong version of Crystal is installed and they have to reinstall the system set-up again. That works fine until someone runs a report in SLX again... then the same problem occurs. It is driving me crazy! The MAS person I am working with called Sage and they said that they know about it but don't have a fix. |

fiogf49gjkf0d I'm not sure this will work but here's an idea: Place the DLL's of each version within their parent package's sub-directory. Thus, the Crystal 11.2 DLL's could be placed in the ...\Program Files\SalesLogix directory. And Crystal 10's DLL's could be placed in the .....MAS directory. Then re-register both sets of Crystal DLL's. This 'might' force the OS to distinquish each Crystal version.
This is an interesting and actually classic problem which could affect numerous packages which have different versions of Crystal Reports. I wonder what the wise and all knowing folks at Business Objects have to say about "their" problem. Between them and the "original thinkers" at Microsoft lies a valley of confused users. |
