Formating colors not exporting from Crystal report to excel

Hi All,
I have created a crystal report in which I have used a formatting formula like:-
"if {THG_DEFECT_TRACKER.STATUS} = "Waiting for Customer"
then Color (250, 150, 0) else
if {THG_DEFECT_TRACKER.STATUS} = "Open"
then Color (250, 150, 0) else
Color (0, 200, 0)"
I now have waiting and open tickets as orange and closed ones as green background colored tickets in Crystal report.
However, when I export it to excel I dont get any formatting done in it. The excel version just looks incomplete without formatting done.
Also please note that I am automating this report to be available to higher management via Knowledge Sync. Thus I will also have to have the full reporting available with all reqd formatting to be done in excel also.
Please advise on how can I obtain this.
