Hey everyone! I need a bit of help. I've hit something I've never experienced before. We developed some customizations for a client, v6.2.4. We put a several simple buttons on the screens to run a "Crystal Reports" when clicked. We get the following error in the client's environment:

"Microsoft Office Word (error), Openting this document will run the following SQL command: SELECT * FROM 'Sheet1$', Data from your database will be placed in the document. Do you want to continue? Yes/No"

Keep in mind that we are running a "Crystal Report" and are NOT making any calls to "Office" or "Word". The client uninstalled Office and it works. Reinstalled Office and we get the same message. They tried Office 2003, 2003 w/SP1, 2003 w/SP2, still get the same error. We can not reproduce this in our environment, although we have tried. They get the same error when logged in as the Network Administrator, so we know it is not a rights issue. My puzzler is sore trying to figure this one out. Any suggestions? Your help would be appreciated!!

My bet is that you have an Excel cell pasted somewhere within your document. Check to make certain that you have no links: From the Edit menu, choose Links. This should give you some indication of the links that exist for the document.

Another thought is that your file associations are messed up. An easy way to check is to open Windows Explorer and look at the icon associated with the .RPT file. If its a Word icon then its a file association issue. If not, then make sure there aren't any embedded Excel cells in the report.

Good Idea, but the only Crystal Reports that don't work are the ones executed from our button. Std Crystal Reports work fine. We copied script as used under the print icon on the tool bar and changed the report name and prameter being passed to the Crystal Report. As mentioned before, this works on their server and 2 of their 25 WS. We believe it has to be an environment issue... but what?

Thanks for your time in giving this some thought and replying!

Ron, we are running a Crystal Report and in no way executing or calling Word or Excel. The od thing is if we uninstall Office, the Crystal Report runs fine. If we reinstall Office, we get the MS Word Error.

Thanks for giving this some thought and in replying!
