At the risk of sounding like a noob, I need some refresher info on customizing a template file.

We are trying to write a template that pulls data from the opportunity level. Specifically once a deal is closed-won we need to email the data to the implementation team in a remote office. They currently do not have SLX.

I'm pretty sure I've done something similar, in the past, for my former employer, but it's been awhile and I'm drawing a blank.

I'm running 6.2.6 BTW. Has this process improved in 7.x? I really don't like how the template builder is focused so heavily on the contact in 6.2.x

Never mind. I forgot that you can use SQL. Something as simple as:

SELECT type FROM SYSDBA.OPPORTUNITY
where opportunityid = :OpportunityID

That worked just fine. The user will have to run the template from the opportunity level but that's not a problem. The big problem is making sure the sales rep attaches a contact to the opportunity. Currently they don't do that.

Yes, it has changed in 7.x. Take a look at how you merge w/lead(s), etc.
