Exporting Crystal 8.5 Reports to Excel with Office 2007Your last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

When an exported crystal 8.5 report to excel is opened in excel 2007 we get an error: "File Error: Data may have been lost".

The report doesn't lose any data but the error message is confusing to users. Is there an updated crystal .dll to use?

Also, I assume this will go away when we upgrade to 7.2 later this year.

Thanks,
Paul

What version of SLX are you currently using? Office 2007 is only certified for use with versions 6.2.5 and higher.

We are on 6.2.6. It only happens when a crystal report is exported to excel.

Remember, Sage SalesLogix does NOT modify the Crystal reports "tools". Since you are on v6.2.6 SLX it's Crystal 8.5. Sounds like Crystal 8.5 is the real problem here. Did you check the Crystal (Business Objects) site to see if this is a KI?

Sounds more like an Excel error message (if you google it, you will find several matches, but I haven't found a given solution).

Also, it is possible that the file looks ok, but there might be in fact some data lost.

For instance, how many rows of data should have been exported to Excel?
What happens if you filter the report to only dump 1 record, does it also generate the same error?

Also, I am not sure how Crystal generates the Excel file. Since you are running 8.5, it is possible that it is generating an document of an Earlier version of Excel, and then once it is ready, it gets open with Excel 2007 because that is what you got installed.
