Hi All,

There seems to be some probblem with a particular report.
When this report is clicked in SLX client it does not throw any error but at the same time it does not work properly, opens up with blank tabs.
But if the same error is opened in SLX Architect, it opens perfectly showing the DB entries as well.
We even tried to re-release the report but still its not showing in client.
Can anyone provide any pointers to this..??

Who is logged in at the client? Who is logged in when in the Architect?

The provider provides security and filters data based on team membership. The possible situation you are running into is the client user does not have access to any of the data. The is especially likely if you are logging into the Architect as admin who has access to ALL data.

The provider handles security and filters data based on team membership. The possible situation you are running into is the client user does not have access to any of the data in the report. The is especially likely if you are logging into the Architect as admin who has access to ALL data.

Hi John,

I myself checked for this....both in the client and the Architect, with admin login....I could open the report in the Architect but not in the client.

I'm in a similar situation, I can run a report in the Architect but in the client I get:
"Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details: Database Vendor Code: 33167768]"

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Can you confirm that the report is using OLE instead of ODBC? If it is not open the report in Crystal and click DATABASE - CONVERT DATABASE DRIVER and convert to OLEDB.

Also, open the report in Crystal and click DATABASE - VERIFY DATABASE. Then save and re-release the report in SalesLogix saving the credentials.

One other "small" gotcha that's tripped up our technical support department. When you run this report in the Client, before hitting the "Preview" or "Print" buttons, ensure there is report filter set. Sometimes the client will default to "Current Record Only" and the report comes up blank.

If this really is the case, there is a simple way to fix that once and for all. Change the base table for the report (in it's properties) to not be Account, Contact, or Opportunity for the report.

Thanks David.

I think the issue was related to what you were saying. However, I did have the OLE DB selected. The only thing that I did not do was to check the "Integrated Security" box. Once I checked that, it worked fine. Do you know by any chance why that box need to be checked?

The "Integrated Security" has to do with what John said above where the provider handles security and filters data based on team membership.
