KnowledgeSync vs. TaskCentre vs. Custom App

A customer is looking to create a ticket escalation process involving numerous automatic email communications. The conditions aren't necessarily complicated (though it'd be nice if complex logic is permitted). Examples include emailing the tech when he is assigned to a ticket, email a manager when a ticket is open and hasn't been updated in 48 hours, and emailing the customer every 48 hours for a Priority 1 ticket. I've had limited exposure to KnowledgeSync and only observed TaskCentre at Insights. I appreciate any feedback as to which product is more flexible, more reliable, has lower TCO, has better support, etc.? Also, with auto-generated emails, do the products permit HTML pages? Thanks! |

I would say unless yor need is verry simple Home Grown is rarly cost effective.
We have built a very complex version of what you are talking about using TaskCentre and it does a great Job.
I think KnowledgeSync could do a good job as well but I find TaskCentre easier to build and maintain tasks. Both products allow HTML sends.
To be fair I have not used KnowledgeSycn in a couple of years, I also think it is more of a personal preference Coke Vs Pepsi type thing.
To really get an Answer to your Question, ( at least the TC v KS part) you would have to talk to somone that has used both recently and regurly and I doubt anyone like that if they plan on continuing to use both will give an opinion.

Thank you very much for the information. I suspect you are correct in saying that many, especially those using both products, may choose not to publicly state a preference. It sounds like I'll need to evaluate both products to understand the pros and cons of each. Certainly, as you mentioned, a custom application would not be the best approach. Thanks, again.

Chris, I think you should evaluate both but I think TaskCentre is more flexible. We have built some escalation tasks within a very short time and it works fine for about 2 years right now. With TaskCentre you can do even more. Integration, there is a SalesLogix tool where you can write information to SalesLogix very simple, or you can build your own tools with the SDK.
